I've had a longstanding fear of heights and did not take my first plane ride until I was almost 40. I guess it's more important to me to overcome my fears and to see new places. So I did it, I flew. I did it alone. I tell myself that people do this everyday, all the time. That it is safer than a car, and that God will see me through, no matter what. I also know that I cannot avoid my time coming, just like everyone else, so I should just go about my business and experience as much of life as possible. I've done it enough so that I am not afraid anymore and am very proud of myself that I travel so well, and on my own to boot! Fear is like smoke, it's vapor, temporary, and once you get through it, you find there is nothing there to fear anymore. I hope this all helps you. I will pray for you, that God will send angels to keep you strong and let go of your fear, to soothe you.

Keep a stiff upper lip; win one for the Gipper; we have nothing to fear but fear itself; "reality" is the only word in language the should always be used in quotes; Ye tho' I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for I just killed and ate the former baddest mother fucker in the valley.---------------------------------------

Artgnome, that was very kind, and I appreciate it very much. It DID make me feel better, too. Especially that last. Hanau, you're a bundle of quote-y goodness. I miss talking to you.

My Mum kind of fixed her fear of flying by making the trip from Australia to Washington DC to visit me. Usually she holds the plane in the air by gripping the arm rests tightly the whole time, but this was such a long flight that she eventually needed to sleep, and discovered that the plane was doing great without her help. :) I do understand your fear though, I also used to feel very nervous about flying. I'm not sure when that changed, but I guess nowadays I deliberately focus on the destination, which is always a vacation, and think thoughts of frolicking and stuff. :)

And I am sooooooo thinking about frolicking, Loob. Thinking hard about it. In the weeeeeeeee hours. For the second night straight. lol I'll be fine. Eventually.

Take some Xanax and don't sweat it I fly ALL the time and I have never crashed. Never even had a scare, even though I prayed for it a million times, I just can't wish that plane out of the air! Let me know if there is a lay over in KC I'll scurry up to the airport and buy you a drink.

I'd love it! I do believe the layover is in Phoenix, though. No deal?
